How visitors confirm their age, what they see and where the popup appears. Every feature is included for free.
Three ways to confirm
Visitors answer with Yes and No buttons, tick a checkbox, or enter their date of birth, which is compared with the minimum age you set.
Your logo, colors and text
Add your logo, choose the colors and the overlay opacity, and write every line of text, in any language. A live preview shows each change.
Every page or only some
Show the popup on all pages, or only on pages you list, such as /collections/wine/*. Language prefixes such as /fr are ignored.
Asked once
The answer is kept in a first-party cookie for the number of days you choose (30 by default), or until the visitor closes their browser.
When a visitor says no
Visitors who answer No, or whose date of birth is under your minimum age, see a message you write and can be sent on to a page you choose.
Keyboard and screen reader friendly
Focus stays in the popup until the visitor answers, screen readers announce its title and message, and it respects reduced motion settings.
A small script
The popup comes from a small script that loads after your page content, through the app embed.
No theme code to edit
Doorcheck runs as a theme app embed that you switch on in the theme editor. Switching it off removes the popup.
How setup works
Four steps from install to a live popup.
Install Doorcheck
Add the app to your store from the Shopify App Store.
Turn on the app embed
Open the app, click Open theme editor and switch on the “Age Verification” app embed.
Adjust the settings
Choose how visitors confirm their age, then set the text, colors and pages. The live preview shows each change.
Check your store
Open your store in a private window to see the popup the way a new visitor does.
A popup, not an ID check
Doorcheck asks visitors to confirm their own age. It doesn’t verify identity or age, and it doesn’t replace any legal age-verification requirement. Rules differ by country and product, so check which ones apply to your store.

The popup shows a small ShopOpsy icon in a corner, 24 × 24 px with no text and no link. A one-time charge of $9.99, approved in your Shopify admin, removes it for good on your store.

You choose one of three methods: Yes and No buttons, a checkbox the visitor ticks before continuing, or their date of birth. With the date of birth method, the date is compared with the minimum age you set inside the visitor’s browser. It is never sent to Doorcheck, to Shopify or to anyone else, and it isn’t stored.
Can I show the popup only on some pages?
Yes. Show it on every page, or only on the pages you list, one rule per line. For example, /products/wine matches that page only, and /collections/wine/* matches that collection and every page below it. Language prefixes such as /fr are ignored, so a rule also covers the other language versions of a page.
Do I need to edit my theme code?
No. Doorcheck runs as a theme app embed, which you switch on in the theme editor. Your theme files are never changed, and turning the embed off removes the popup.
What data does Doorcheck store?
Only what it needs for your store: your shop domain, the access token Shopify issues to the app, your popup settings and uploaded images, daily totals of how often the popup was shown, passed and refused (if statistics are on), which in-app notices you closed, and any purchase or policy-writing order you make in the app. Doorcheck stores no data about your customers or visitors.
If you contact us through the support chat in the app’s admin pages, the conversation is handled by Crisp, not stored by Doorcheck.
